Spoek Mathambo back at it again. As we wait for his upcoming release, Father Creeper on label sub-pop next Spring, he in the meantime unveils a new collaborative cover’s project, Nombolo One Project. A homage to the strong musical tradition from his native South Africa from the 70′s through to today.

Nombolo One is part of a bigger engagement, the Motel11 Roadtrip Tapes, music and art collaborations inspired by the figurative road trips throughout ones life. Launching the project, the roadtrip tape features all legendary covers with zero samples. The releases are set to be available for free online in combination with limited edition items & special goods on order.
The first of this 12 track release, Melodi Ft. The Frown, a nod to a classic by Mahlathini & the Mahotella Queens and their original track, Melodi Yalla. Along with The Frown, Mathambo collaborates with Cape Town based art collective Love&Hate Studio, to create the artwork for the limited CD wood boxes and denim jackets, curated by one louder.agency.
