Born and raised in the township Tembisa, Anthony Bila’s inherent sense of good taste and skills as an online style photographer resonate with a particular Joburg fashion crowd; those craving authenticity and striving to stand out as stylish individuals. Bila who dabbles in online copy writing for the blog and online magazine It’s What I’m Into, and also works as a radio presenter on Euro Trash Radio, has set the benchmark for South African street style bloggers.
His blog The Expressionist celebrates the edgy, unique and stand-alone individual that exudes an air of confidence, sartorial know-how and an unwavering devotion to self expression. Anthony’s unique sense of style, reminiscent of the laid back chic of New York based Joshua Kissi and Travis Gumbs of Street Etiquette earned him a place on South African GQ’s 2011 Best Dressed list.
Anthony, also a painter and an illustrator has a particular penchant for Cubism and Abstract expressionism, elements that relate back to his admiration for unique expression that surpasses the confines of ‘the trend,’ and that instead gives preference and credence to individuality.
